  • Runners come from all over the United States and the world to enjoy a competitive race, relax among the scenic wonders, or both.
  • The Avenue Marathon is a BOSTON qualifier!

Created by the Six Rivers Running Club, the first marathon was run in May of 1972.  The Avenue of the Giants was the chosen site because it is relatively flat, with a few interesting hills and the unsurpassed beauty of the redwood forest.  In 1977, over 900 runners participated in the marathon, making it one of the largest marathons on the west coast. Lodging facilities fill up fast so make your reservations early!
