Faculty members from the Cal Poly Humboldt Music Department will perform at the Morris Graves Museum of Art on Saturday, February 26th at 2:00 p.m.
The program will contain music pieces in a variety of styles, showcasing the wide range of talent of the Cal Poly Humboldt Music Department faculty! The performing artists will provide listeners with comprehensive views on all of the chamber music works. Enjoy an afternoon of classical, cross-over genres, and chamber music, including the Arcata Bay String Quartet- (Cindy Moyer, Karen Davy, Garrick Woods, and Sherry Hanson), and music from local composer Michael Kibbe. Enjoy Kibbe’s “Quartet for Vanessa,” and a Bach Solo Cello Suite. Kibbe wrote the quartet for his wife Vanessa, it has four movements; “gently flowing”, “elegy” (for those we have loved and lost), Scherzo, and the Finale. The Bach Cello Suites are some of the most recognizable and well-loved pieces of music in both classical and popular circles. They have been featured in concerts and commercials alike, transcribed for a diverse array of instruments, and interpreted by every style of music imaginable, from swing to electronic.
Audience members will have the opportunity to meet the performers after the concert!
