Brenda Tuxford Gallery and Ink People Center for the Arts invite you to submit works of art in any medium for inclusion in "Cycle: Perspectives on Intimate Partner and Family Violence," a forthcoming show at Brenda Tuxford Gallery. This group art exhibition focuses on works of art that explore the complex personal and societal impacts of partner and family violence. We encourage artists to explore this topic through any art form or medium. Poetry is welcome!
The title “Cycle” refers to the theory that partner violence tends to be cyclical. Abuse can be silenced by the belief that violence can be held off through secrecy. The impact moves through communities and perpetuates itself. We are looking for works that will explore the complexities of control, impact, silence, love, hope, pain, healing, and the potential for joy in the aftermath of healing.
The exhibition will be on view in October 2023 at Brenda Tuxford Gallery, located at 422 1st Street in downtown Eureka, California. Submissions deadline: Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at 11:59 pm.
