The Humboldt Arts Council is hosting Second Saturday Family Arts Day at the MGMA on Saturday, March 11th at 2:00! This monthly event is always FREE! Families are invited to participate together in this monthly art-making workshop that complements current exhibitions at the Museum. However, this month we are having a special edition workshop celebrating with art made with heart. These workshops are geared toward intergenerational learning and creating in a museum setting. Discover the MGMA through fun, educational activities for kids and families!
For everyone from beginners to art experts, Second Saturday Family Arts Day offers diverse opportunities for the whole family to view, understand, and interact with the exhibitions and art on view.
On March 11th, we will be creating woven baskets with repurposed materials and colorful yarn. This project is inspired by the collective exhibition, Powerful Fragility, which asks us: How are we part of nature’s web? Participants are invited to explore the exhibition and then to gather in the rotunda for the day’s project with assistance and guidance from art educator Genevieve Kjesbu. All materials will be supplied.
